Auction - The Game of Acquisition by Avalon Hill (1989)
Players must wheel and deal,buy and sell and outwit each other to raise enough Money through marketing rare items to be able to complete their own precious Collection and so win the Game.
Simple rules re-create the World of a high priced Auction House where you strive to acquire enough cash to buy the Jewels,or the precious Antique or the rare Collectable.
Each Rare Art object in the Game is represented by its own Colourful Card and the Players must judge the worth of each very carefully - gambling when buying or selling so that they have made the best Deal to improve their Fortunes.
The object of the Game is simple -to gather together Sets of Cards which together form a complete Collection in one realm (Books,Tapestries or any of the 10 others)
The more Cards in a Set the more its Worth when it is complete, but to complete even the lowest valued Collection, the Player must Buy and Sell Skillfully.
Surprises typical of the World of Sotheby's of London or Christie's of New York pop up throughout the Game - you can't find a Buyer willing to meet your Price;Experts pronounce your latest Acquisition a Worthless Forgery,A Rich Collector outbids you for that item you have set your Heart on,A Special deal to buy an Antique from a Warehouse comes your Way.
