Harpoon 3rd Edition - Modern Naval Warfare Table Top Game with Supplement Battles of the Third World War by GDW (1987) Unplayed
Harpoon simulates modern naval warfare. Its rules tell how ships and aircraft move, detect enemy contacts, and attack them. Weapons inflict realistic effects, and proper naval tactics produce accurate and believable results. The die-cut counters included in the game make it possible to take this game home and start playing.
Tom Clancy's books Hunt for Red October and Red Storm Rising used Harpoon as a source. (The game was not based on the books.) To quote from the Author's Note in Red Storm Rising "(Harpoon)...served as a primary source for The Hunt for Red October" and "... a macro-war game or campaign game which, using the" Harpoon system, would fight out a new Battle of the North Atlantic. I thought this was fascinating and we began talking about building a book around the idea...'. Larry Bond is given co-copyright to Red Storm Rising.
The Game also includes the rare Supplement Battles of the 3rd World War which Covers 15 scenarios for the Harpoon system of modern naval warfare.
These 15 scenarios cover the hypothetical war between NATO and Soviet forces.
The Game can be Played Solitaire or for 1 to 2 Players , Aged 12 Years to Adult
The Game is Complete and the Contents are in a Unplayed Condition with all the Counters unpunched from their Sheets.
The Box is in Good Plus Condition for its Age.
The Harpoon Game is highly rated among Gamers and accurately depicts Modern Naval Warfare and is very hard to find in this Condition and especially with the rare Supplement.
